It seems an age since the World was last treading the floors of Superbooth, but this September, this essential synth and music show is back in business and Decksaver will be showing off its range of protective covers to the thousands of visitors the show attracts.
Starting off as part of Musikmesse 20 years ago, a group of like-minded synth enthusiasts created a side area where brands could extoll the virtues of their music gear, concentrating on what machines can actually do; with plenty of demos and the chance to get hands on some of the best music gear available.
In 2015, the decision was made to move the show out of Frankfurt and so a new location in Berlin was established and so in 2016, the first Superbooth exhibition opened its doors to an awaiting set of brands, musicians and the general public. The show is held at the FEZ-Berlin; a wonderful exhibition space, surrounded by greenery and with many side-rooms and great stages for performing musicians and tech-talks.
2020 was destined to be the fifth anniversary of the exhibition, but with the global pandemic, unfortunately, this was relegated to an online edition. But now, Superbooth is back in its rightful home and is (more or less) back to some sort of normal.
With well over 200 exhibitors showing their wares, the show is absolutely a must-visit to anyone with an interest in synths and music-making. All the big brands will be present of course, including Sequential, Korg, UDO, Polyend, Erica, Arturia, Moog, Akai and Novation, along with plenty of the boutique and smaller manufacturers.
There will also be plenty of stands sharing music-related gear and accessories, such as Adam Audio, PreSonus, FL Studio and of course, Decksaver, who will be co-manning the stand with their German distributor, PAT. Browsers will find some excellent synth units on display, all protected from spills, dust and damage by Decksaver super-tough, smoked clear polycarbonate.
Live music and chat is a major part of the show and his year, Superbooth will feature four stages. In addition to the auditorium and the seaside stage, two new venues will be added: the Finnhütten and the Fuchsbau. In the auditorium, there will be Gesprächskonzerte (lecture concerts) and talks – with Jean-Michel Jarre, Reinhold Heil, Atom TM and T.Raumschmiere among others.
Early Wednesday evening, the Miller-Zillmer-Foundation will present itself to invited guests in the auditorium, where it will celebrate its two-year anniversary. This year the Miller-Zillmer-Foundation makes possible the workshop series with Gammon and his Modular Synthesizer Ensemble, as well as – in cooperation with Mute Artists Ltd. – the headlining concerts on the seaside stage every evening: Yann Tiersen, hackedepicciotto, JakoJako and Pole.
This excellent show grows from strength to strength and is a must visit for the synth, keyboard and music aficionado.
Superbooth 2021 is held at FEZ-Berlin from the 15th to 18th September. Come and say hello to the Decksaver Team at stand W435, which is positioned right by the entrance.
